Checklist Apps for Medical Emergencies

Checklists have been proven tools for management of emergencies for years in aviation, but are infrequently used in medicine. Recent work by Peter Pronovost, Atul Gawande, and others has demonstrated substantial improvements in patient safety and resource efficiency from the use of checklists in routine clinical care. Emergencies are stressful, and the simple format of a checklist allows quick and easy access to critical information. We know that medical personnel are smart and care about their patients, but nationwide the survival rates of cardiac arrest patients are regrettably low. Codes are complex and stressful, and require command of knowledge that most clinicians don't use regularly. Additionally, the guidelines for management, though well-researched and thorough, are not always easily available. With our apps, the guidelines can always be in your pocket.
